Jean Gumpper is Lecturer and Artist in Residence at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO.
Jean's color woodcut prints are represented both nationally and internationally. Her complex images focus on specific elements in the landscape creating compositions that often omit the context of land or a horizon line. Such an approach allows her expressive, multi-layered landscapes to hover between realism and abstraction.
Jean has participated in artist residencies at Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, Goldwell Museum, Grand Canyon National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, and the Ucross Foundation. She received a Visual Artist Fellowship Award from the Colorado Council of the Arts. Most recently, she was a visiting scholar researching new technologies in print at Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec.
