Siri Beckman was raised outside Chicago by parents who worked in commercial art and advertising. She studied art and biology, with an interest in medical illustration, but spent much of her early career working as a graphic artist while attending the Cincinnati Art Academy on weekends. At 49, she enrolled in the University of the Arts in Philadelphia to pursue her MFA.
Siri Beckman’s art career began in earnest when she moved to Maine in 1975. Today, Beckman is a full time working artist. She has taught at the University of Maine, Gould Academy, and the Haystack Mountain School of Craft. She lives in Bath, Maine.
